After several days(weeks?) of repeated site issues I think we might have a handle on the stability issue plaguing the blog.
Over the past 24 hours I upgraded the web hosting plan and added a site caching plugin to the back end software to reduce the number of database queries which I concluded were overwhelming the server. Over the past few hours I have noted faster load times in general and the absence of blank pages, timeouts and error pages. Obviously this is not a high traffic time so we will need to keep monitoring the site to ensure it continues to perform reasonably well. I imagine if the Big Three announce their return we will find out then.
Please offer comments below on whether the performance of the site has improved or not. If you see issues with the site please do not hesitate to email me at support -at- tarheelfanblog.com. Replace the -at- with the standard @ symbol for emails.
Thanks for your patience.
Yes, much better load time. I noticed it right away. I work with databases all day long, so I appreciate the agony you’ve been through. Love your site. Thanks for doing a great job.
Things do seem better, and thanks for the technical expertise and effort. (I now realize some of my comments on the site bogdowns sounded too much like complaints and less like needed feedback….I didn’t mean for them to.)
The site is back to normal as far as I can tell.
Much improved and thank you.

Go Heels!
Thanks for the update & speed up. Great stuff on the site, I appreciate it so much. It’s hard to live outside Carolina and stay in the know without the help of sites like yours.
Much better now. Earlier it was doing crazy things like saying the Heels signed an unknown PG named Stillman.
