The Four Factors:

eFG% (effective Field Goal %) = [FGM + (0.5 x 3PM)] / FGA

TO% (Turnover %) = Team Turnovers / Team Possessions

OR% (Offensive Rebounding %) = Team OR / (Team OR + Opponent DR)

FTR (Free – Throw Rate) = Free Throw Attempts / Field Goal Attempts

Player Impact Rating:

[(ORtg × POS%) + (AST% × 33.3) + (STL% × 100)+ (BLK% × 100) + (OR% × 71.4) + (DR% × 47.6) – (TO% × POS%)] × Min%

Individual Stats:

ORtg = Points Produced / POS

Note: The calculations for points produced, scoring possessions and total possessions for an individual player are very complex. For a full description, please refer to Appendix 1 of Dean Oliver’s, “Basketball on Paper.”

POS% = POS / Team POS

Min% = Minutes played / Team Minutes (40 except in the case of OT)

AST% = AST / ((Team FGM x MIN%) - FGM)

STL% = STL / (Team POS x MIN%)

BLK% = BLK / (MIN% x (Opp FGA - Opp 3FGA))

TO% = TO / POS

OR% = Player OR / [Min% * (Team OR + Opp DR)]

DR% = Player DR / [Min% * (Team DR + Opp OR)]
