He is going to UCLA, which is in no way shocking.
Larry Drew, the former North Carolina point guard, has enrolled at UCLA, according to sources.
Drew was officially enrolled as of Monday, the first day of spring quarter at UCLA.
Drew, who was a junior at North Carolina this year, left the Tar Heels in mid-season and requested and was granted a transfer from UNC’s Roy Williams.
The 6-0 guard will have to sit out next season, due to NCAA transfer rules. According to sources, he won’t take up a scholarship during his redshirt year.
The real question is what do the Wear Twins think? The other question is does Ben Howland really know what is he is getting into? I guess it doesn’t matter. He only has to put up with it for one season and if he doesn’t play Some Other Kid what is SOK’s mother going to do? Berate him on Twitter? Whine about on the message boards?
At any rate, anyone want to lay odds on whether UNC and UCLA end up in the same region in the 2013 NCAA Tournament?
Wait, I thought he would be able to play next year because most Cali state schools were on a quarter system.
No…you have to sit a year from the time you transfer in which is why him leaving in February made zero sense. Worked out great for UNC so I guess we should be thankful.
From the time you transfer in…okay. That makes sense now. I thought it was when he transferred out. I guess since UCLA didn’t have a scholly available he wasn’t able to sign with UCLA.
Actually I need to check the rule book but the bottom line is he cannot play the next season unless he is a graduate student like Justin Knox.
Good riddance. Now Some Other Kid is officially Someone Else’s Problem. Buh Bye!
Wow….these three deserve each other….
Well their old school colors were blue & white, now they are blue & YELLOW…..how fitting!
Did anyone get a load of that poor excuse for a human being Marshall Plumlee tonight at the skills competition…wow.
I, as many of you I’m sure, could go on and on berating the current Duke Plumlee’s - I’ve decided to sum it up into simply saying “They’re really bad at basketball” — especially Mason. But this kid Marshall, wow is he a piece of work.
I won’t get into how awkward and disgustingly hideous he looks, but this kid is truly a grade A moron. Not only did he do the Vince Carter “It’s Over” after his first average and boring dunk, but he spent the rest of the night dancing around like a total dweeb with the worst smile across his face I’ve ever seen. I pray for the day that all those 3 are on the floor together — if you are an actual Duke fan, how can you be excited to watch another dumb as hell athlete catch the ball in the post, hold it for 19 seconds, then decide to try a ridiculous spin move that results in either a travel, turnover, or brick.
Moving on to something Heels related - PJ Hairston could be quite a factor next year. He has an incredibly quick release and is a tremendous athlete. Can’t wait to see him next year!
^ Re the Plumlees, every time I see them I’m reminded of that old Paul Newman movie, “Slapshot”. If you saw it, you’ll remember the Hanson Brothers. If not, here’s a YouTube clip.

I don’t want to wait for the NCAAT / Selection Committee … we need to schedule a regular season game against those chumps next year when (hopefully - please) many of SOK’s and the Where? Twins’ former teammates will still (hopefully - please) be at UNC. I know SOK won’t be eligible to play next year and would have to just sit on the bench and watch, but hey - that’s what he should have been doing when he was at UNC too…
The real question is why UCLA wants him.
Really-
My real question is did SOK’s mommy hold his hand and go to the enrollment of her child? I guess she also told the coaching staff what she expected of them in the treatment of her child while in their care.
New Bruin motto, “We will take all of your flawed cubs from Carolina”.
Good riddance, indeed!

Now on to something important like Tar Heel baseball.
Let’s go Heels!!
So, all kidding aside… isn’t time for UNC to investigate whether or not UCLA is actively tampering with it’s recruits? Don’t get me wrong, I don’t want any of these guys back but the trend here is starting to look more then just coincidental.
The basic problem with Drew is that he just doesn’t have much talent. No team that wants to go somewhere can have him as the starting PG, as we found out. If UCLA wants to schedule us, fine, it will be (another) big mistake.
What Larry’s mom hasn’t told UCLA yet is that as part of this deal:
1- Ben Howland’s playbook must be discarded and replaced with Larry Drew Sr’s playbook… which is pretty simple since it only has two plays: 1) Junior gets to shoot as often as he wants 2) Junior gets to drive to the basket whenever he wants regardless of whether he can actually get there or even knows what he’d do if he did get there.
2 - The Wear Twins must be replaced with players who have the superhuman ability to catch uncatchable passes and turn them into assists instead of turnovers. Any player with less then a 12 foot wingspan need not apply.
Yes sir. They are in for some good times at UCLA…
I hope the mother doesn’t check out the UCLA boards. Not exactly a warm reception.
