Usually when a player is lost for “academic reasons” after the semester is over it means they did not make the required grades or credit hours during the fall term. It is sort of surprising considering Anthony Elzy is a senior. You would think his academic credits and what not are mostly in order. Apparently not. Needless to say, this is another negative UNC could do without, especially since it is academic in nature. Cue the annoying jokes from ABCers how Elzy couldn’t stay eligible without tutors cheating for him or something.
On the football side, Elzy was the starting running back but also a solid receiving option out of the backfield. Shaun Draughn and Hunter “Destroyer of Worlds” Furr will fill the gap at RB for the Music City Bowl vs Tennessee.
UPDATE: From TarHeelWire on Twitter concerning what Tennessee can expect.

well crap. what’s the latest on white?
just a guess of course, but I bet the Faculty carries a lot more weight now, than this time last year. If ever you were a “squeaky wheel”, you are likely now a shrill siren.
side note-my daughter makes her official visit to UNC on Wed. all good vibes/mojo’s are appreciated!
Big Game -
The good vibes are officially underway. I can’t promise anything, obviously, but I have had pretty good success with vibes over the last year and a half.
Good luck!
thanks rath-are you by any chance avoiding this arctic blast in balmy Hawaii?
Big Game -
I’ve long since become a bum, except for a little teaching law school, but my wife has an actual job, meaning that we don’t get out to Hawaii until January 8. That’s the bad news. The good news is that I’m staying there until March 9. Someone’s gotta do it.
I’m keeping my fingers crossed for the big visit tomorrow!
Please tell me Draughan and Furr won’t lose their eligibility before the game.
As far as the ABC’ers go, they can kiss my rear. How many other schools suspend players for bowl games if their academics aren’t necessarily in order? Hell, we have a team playing in the national title game that got away with bribery but is eligible because he “didn’t know” his daddy was shopping him around.
Maybe this is Butch’s last game as UNC head coach…..
BTW 52, best of luck. Sending major mojo and good vibes!
thanks Andy & good point-maybe a little Newtonian theme music?:

At least no one can accuse him of bribery. Bowl games are going to be interesting. Shame that someone didn’t write a petition for him to play. He gave his heart this season. It could have been done.
Great school - looking is one thing, living it is another.
